Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Recipi (“Recipi”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use the Recipi mobile app and the recipi.us website, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose. If anything is unclear, email hello@recipi.us.

1. Information we collect

• Waitlist. If you join the waitlist on recipi.us we store your email address, the date you joined, the page you signed up from, and your approximate country (estimated from your connection). We don’t store your IP address itself.
• Account. The app uses Sign in with Apple or Google. We receive your name, email address (or Apple’s private relay address) and a user ID from that provider. We never see your Apple or Google password.
• Your recipes and lists. Recipes you import or create, cookbooks, grocery lists, meal plans, and settings such as units and appearance. These are stored on your device and backed up to your account so they sync between devices.
• Links you import. When you share or paste a link, we fetch that public post’s caption, transcript, thumbnail and creator name to build the recipe.
• Purchases. If you subscribe, Apple or Google processes the payment. We receive the subscription status (for example, active, trial or expired) — never your card details.
• Device data for the app to work. Notification permissions and on-device timers. We don’t use advertising IDs and we don’t run third-party ad or tracking SDKs.

2. How we use it

• To run the app: create your account, import recipes, sync your library, run timers and reminders.
• To email you about the launch if you joined the waitlist, and to send service emails you need (for example, about your account). We don’t send marketing emails beyond that without your consent.
• To manage subscriptions, prevent abuse and keep the service secure.
• To improve Recipi using aggregated, non-identifying information.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

3. How your data is processed

To run Recipi we work with a small number of trusted service providers who process data only on our instructions, only for the purposes below, and under contracts that require them to keep it secure and confidential:

• Account and sync. Secure hosting for sign-in and for backing up your library so it follows you across devices.
• Recipe import. When you import a link, its public content (caption, transcript, thumbnail) is fetched and then processed automatically to organise it into ingredients, steps, timings and nutrition estimates.
• Payments. Subscriptions are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play, and a subscription-management service tells the app whether your plan is active.
• Website and email. Hosting for recipi.us and the waitlist, automated bot protection on our forms, and a delivery service for waitlist and account emails.

We never let providers use your information for their own advertising. If you would like more detail about how a particular piece of your data is handled, email hello@recipi.us.

4. How long we keep it

Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or until shortly after launch, whichever comes first. Account data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and your synced recipes, cookbooks, grocery list and meal plan from our servers; backups age out within 30 days.

5. Your choices and rights

• Unsubscribe from waitlist emails with the link in any email.
• Delete your account in the app: Profile → Delete Account. This removes your data as described above.
• Access, correct or export your data, or ask any privacy question, by emailing hello@recipi.us. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK, California or India), you may have additional rights, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.

6. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and access to your library is limited to your signed-in account. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects you as required by law.

7. Children

Recipi isn’t directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

8. International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

9. Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app or by email.
